Calling all kids with the wiggles, the squiggles, and the itch to MOVE!
During Tuesday’s Play in the Park @ the Downtown Farmers Market, we are holding a special FREE dance class: BIG KIDS’ BOOGIE with Julie Raimondi of the Rhody Center for World Music and Dance! Two sessions of the 30 minute class for kids will run at 4PM & 5:15PM in Burnside Park. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a spot – there will be a few open spots on the day of! Teacher and Rhody Center founder, Julie, was most recently voted Providence Monthly’s “Most Worldly” in their Superlatives issue. Check it out here! It’s also Bike to Farmers Market Week – so you can get all kinds of exercise in, healthy food at the Market, and free bike tune-ups to boot!
This is a fun creative movement class (30 minutes) for kids who like to express themselves through dance (and for their parents, who may be desperately looking for an outlet for all that energy). Dance moves practiced will provide a foundation for future instruction in most any kind of dance. Each class will also incorporate opportunities for improvisation and self-invented moves, to really encourage self-expression. At the same time, the children will be working on their listening skills, spatial skills, and self-control. Following a cool-down, the class will end in a circle. Each class is about 30 minutes of dancing. Parents will stay, and are encouraged to join in on the fun. Ballet shoes or other soft, clean, nonslip shoes are recommended. Suitable for boys and girls aged 4-7. Big Kids’ Boogie is a drop-in class; you do not need to pre-register your child (however, the classes are capped so it’s highly recommended you register ahead of time to ensure a spot – email email@example.com). Taught by Julie Raimondi – Rhody Center founder!
